Willow Park Civics update will as the City shares.

Council announced their intentions to incorporate the Memorial Park plans into the town halls and survey for the Kings Gate Park Conceptual Plan; the City is looking for input and guidance from Willow Park Citizens on their plans to move the Willow Park's Pfc. Paul Balint Jr. Memorial Park to the El Chico City Hall parking lot and green space.

Willow Park's Memorial Park is moving., Willow Park Civics Blog, 18 September 2024

The City of Willow Park is planning to move the "Willow Park Memorial Park" from it's current Ranch House Road location to the new "beautified" parking lot in front of the new El Chico City Hall. Currently, there is no indication the new City Hall Memorial/Veterans Park will also be dedicated to Private Paul Balint Jr. or will also include any of the current dedications and memorials.

The City is planning two town hall meetings and a survey to give Willow Park Citizens the opportunities to direct the improvements planned for Kings Gate Park. The first town hall will be this Fall 2024 and will gather considerations to be included in the survey. The survey will take three to four months. The second town hall is planned for the first part of 2025.

The Community News article offers not only details of the new Kings Gate Park Trinity Trail but also all the other Kings Gate Park amenities -- and the City's plans for new amenities.

In the last several months, the City of Willow Park has added three new employees to our City administration: Mandy McCarley, Director of Parks; Andrea Saylor, Director of Finance/Human Resources; Chelsea Kirkland, Utility Billing Clerk. Details in linked blog.

Bike Rules for Texas Roads and Willow Park Trails, Willow Park Civics Blog, posted 08 August, 2024

With the new emphases on biking in Willow Park, all bikers need to realize they have the same responsibilities and public road rules as do motorized vehicle drivers. In addition, there are Rules for Safety and Outdoor Ethics for all Willow Park and Weatherford Mountain Bike Club trails.  Keep trails open by setting a good example of environmentally sound and socially responsible trail use.

Somebody knows something. Most vandalism is a demand for attention, which means bragging.  As a community, let's help. Not only for the preservation of our tax-supported, community assets, but also for the future of our young people, we need to stop this destructive and disrespectful behavior.

Concept Plan for a "new" Kings Gate Park, Part 1, Willow Park Civics Blog, posted 06 August, 2024

The Willow Park Parks Board has requisitioned an exciting, strategic pipe-dream of a Concept Plan for Kings Gate Park. This Concept Plan includes over twenty "features." Part 2 will be published after the Parks Board Meeting.

The new “Trinity Track” mountain bike trail opened the week of Monday, 22 July 2024, with trails cut in by Shadow Trail Designs and the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club and emergency markers and trail kiosk signage in place. The formal Ribbon Cutting for the new Trinity Trail is at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 15, at the entrance to the park. Details in linked blog.

There are nine big projects that are actively flourishing like the Willow Park Parks themselves. And the new Parks Superintendent Jakob Cooper is busy keeping our Parks clean and maintained.

Trinity Track at Kings Gate Park now has 9-1-1 sign posts, which are approximately 5-foot tall, red, fiberglass posts, each with a letter of the alphabet noting the location of the marker. The markers have been geo-referenced to digital files that emergency services have in their dispatch systems.

New Trinity Track in Kings Gate Park is rolling. Willow Park Civics Blog, 19 June 2024

With a fundraising effort that exceeded its goal, thanks to Mayor Moss, the New Trinity Track is starting construction this month. There is a new map and new Rules of the Trinity Trail. Jacob Cooper, a member of the City of Willow Park Public Works, has been designate as Willow Park's new Parks Superintendent. And yes, installing bathrooms is part of the plan. Details in linked blog.

(Yes, bathrooms for Kings Gate Park were mentioned.) Along with the Trails Master Plan Addendum, Kings Gate Park will now be programmed into the City of Willow Park's Parks Master Plan. "Before improvements are chosen, city officials decided it best to formally program the park, rather than choose random projects and placement." Details in linked blog.
