Dear Texans,

It was another busy week in Washington, D.C. addressing your top concerns and the important issues facing our nation. Read below for an update on my work serving you.

Defending the Second Amendment

President Biden has promised to ban firearms used by millions of Americans. Throughout history, we have seen time and time again that they first come for your guns, and the rest follows. I am proud to lead Congress in the fight to protect the Second Amendment from Biden’s dangerous anti-American policies. House Republicans passed legislation to stop the enforcement of the ATF's stabilizing brace rule. I voted in favor of H.J. Res. 44, and I will never waver in my support for the Second Amendment. Watch my floor speech here.

Small Business Committee Hearing

Anyone in our country can become an entrepreneur if they are willing to put in the work to bring an idea to life, but many people do not know where to start. We must ensure that federal government programs are being utilized to create successful businesses. As we look to make the SBA more effective and efficient, we must end the duplication that is wasting taxpayer dollars and evaluate the effectiveness of a program when determining funding. In Congress, I am working to enact pro-growth policies that make it easier for small businesses to keep the doors open. That means not burdening businesses with excessive taxes and regulations and stopping the reckless government spending that spurs high inflation and interest rates, hurting their bottom lines. Watch the hearing here.

Financial Services Committee Hearings

Last week, we had two full Financial Services Committee hearings. First, Secretary Yellen appeared before the FSC and I got to ask her about the state of the international economy and rules and regulations surrounding the current interconnectedness of the United States and Chinese economy. Watch my line of questioning here.

In the second hearing, I highlighted the CRA of the CFPB’s 1071 rule and asked Director Chopra what he is doing to ensure regulations aren’t causing undue burdens on small lenders. This new rule is a continued attack on Main Street America, and we cannot allow the CFPB to continue to add burdensome requirements without any consideration of their impact on small businesses and lenders. Watch my line of questioning here.

Republicans Win the Congressional Baseball Game

The Republican team took home a win at this year’s Congressional baseball game. Baseball is a huge part of my life, and coaching the Republican team is an honor. I am proud of our team and the hard work they put in this year.

In God we trust,

Roger Williams

Member of Congress

The US House Representative for Texas District 25, which includes Willow Park.
