Willow Park welcomed Assistant Chief Daniel Franklin into the Willow Park Police Department on 01 August 1st, 2018. And again Willow Park welcomed Assistant Chief Daniel Franklin as Interim Police Chief on 14 March 2023. Residents of Willow Park are looking forward to the "charming" third-time welcome of Daniel Franklin as the new Willow Park Police Chief.
When former Willow Park Police Chief Ellis (West) resigned, during the 28 February 2023 Council meeting, she highly recommended Assistant Police Chief Daniel Franklin as her replacement. Apparently the City Council agrees. After an obligatory but short job posting and a review by a newly established hiring committee, during Tuesday's council meeting, Interim Police Chief Franklin was promoted to Willow Park Police Chief.

"I'm excited to have an opportunity to continue the path Chief Ellis and I have been working on. I've worked with a lot of police chiefs and she's the best I've ever worked with."
Ellis had similar praise for Franklin, who previously worked in the Jacksonville Police Department for 20 years, including several years as assistant chief and captain.
"He has my resounding support and I've already offered a letter to the city manager for him," Ellis said. "He's completely capable and knowledgeable, an amazing guy, a great family man."
Franklin and his wife Karla live in Weatherford. They have four children, 19-year-old daughter Kaitlyn, 8- and 7-year-old sons Daniel Jr. and Jackson, and 5-year-old daughter Amelia.
"I have the utmost confidence in Assistant Chief of Police Franklin to step in, "City Manager Bryan Grimes said.
