Senate Election Drawing List / TX Senator Springer drew the short straw in re-election
Senate Election Drawing Listed, The Texan, 13 January 2023, Excerpts.
"Because the Texas Senate’s four-year terms do not fit neatly into the decennial redistricting period, after districts are redrawn, senators must draw to see who must run again in 2024. That drawing occurred on Wednesday. Not only does it determine who must run again next cycle, but also who can and cannot run from cover for statewide office in 2026. Here’s the list of which senators and districts will be up for election in which cycle…”
Editorial Note: Willow Park’s Texas Senate District 30 Senator Drew Springer "drew" an election date of 2024. Springer was re-elected for a four-year term in the March 2022 Republican primaries and in the November 2022 general election and ran unopposed in both. The Senate drawing means he must run again in 2024 instead of 2026.
