New Trinity Track in Kings Gate Park is rolling.

The Kings Gate Park is the starting point for the new Trinity Trails single track mountain bike trails being created in partnership with the City of Willow Park and the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club (WMBC).

During the 07 May 2024 Parks Board Meeting [1], the City, Parks Board, and Larry Colvin of the WMBC talked about creating the new and future single bike trails and the Beginner Skills Area in Kings Gate Park, along the Clear Fork River that runs through Wilks' Willow Park North development. Mr. Colvin presented a new map of the Kings Gate Park and Trinity Trails. The green is the currently planned trail and the yellow marks a possible future trail in easements of the Wilks Development, where where it is problematic to build, like flood plains and elevation changes.

Trinity Track Rules, page 2. See .pdf for full rules.

Colvin also presented the new Rules of the Trinity Trail in .pdf .

• The implementation plan included the following:

• During May, there will be meetings with the Club's trail contractor.

• During June, the Club and interested citizens will start "burning" the trails, riding the trails to turn the existing grass and dirt into a bikable ride and to test the terrain.

In addition,

• The new off road bike trail will be 8' wide.

 • There will be kiosks to identify where the trail crosses another trail, however the closest the bike trail will be to itself or to the cement trail is 10'.

• There will be bridges over drainage problems and other unridable hazards.

• The City and the Club will continue to add enhancements over time.

• The final phase will be the Hub, a noticeable marker of rocks to act as a place to meet and to indicated the entrances / exits to the trails.

• There will be additional fundraising for a system of 911 Location Markers so Citizens can report their location during an emergency or during a meet-up

And yes, there was talk about bathrooms and expanding the parking lot.

Also, the City announced Jacob Cooper, a member of the City of Willow Park Public Works, has been designate as Willow Park's new Parks Superintendent. He will be "boots-on-the-ground," tending to the needs of our City Parks.
