New Bluejack Ranch development and Tiger Woods golf course announced just 10 miles south of Willow Park. Does Willow Park have a new neighbor?

It doesn't look like it.

In December 2023, Ryan Voorhees, Developer of the Master Planned Community Kelly Ranch, announced his project including an Escalante Golf golf course, upscale residential homes, and retail and commercial development. [1]

The beginning of October 2024, a development company led by business people with Fort Worth backgrounds, Tiger Woods, and a professional golfer with TCU ties have come together to turn a 914-acre development in Parker County into a golf course surrounded by luxury homes. Bluejack Ranch is the name of the project.  Lantern Asset Management purchased the land from Ryan Voorhees. The property is located just off U.S. Highway 377 and Kelly Ranch Road in Aledo. [2]

The new course is expected to open in early 2026, with the ranch club projecting an opening in Q1 of 2025. [2, 4]

"Along with the golf course, practice facilities, a lighted 10-hole par-3 course and clubhouse, there will be about 600 homes and other amenities, such as a family entertainment area, a spa and wellness area and a podcast studio... There will also be a working dude ranch with horses, longhorns, donkeys and other animals." [2]

[Willow Park Civics editorial note: WPC has asked the Bluejack Ranch to confirm the Bluejack Ranch is the Kelly Ranch under new developers. We will update if Bluejack Ranch answers.]

A development company led by business people with Fort Worth backgrounds, Tiger Woods and a professional golfer with TCU ties have come together to turn a 914-acre development in Parker County into a golf course surrounded by luxury homes.

Bluejack Ranch is the name of the project. It comes from Lantern Asset Management, which has partnered with Tiger Woods and his TGR Design group to design the course. J.J. Henry is a professional golfer who played at TCU. Lantern Asset Management is led by founder and CEO Andy Mitchell, who graduated from TCU with Henry.

Expect Bluejack Ranch to be similar in concept to the Bluejack National private golf community, which the same group built north of Houston and opened in 2014. That project has won numerous plaudits and awards.

Eventually, Mitchell’s Lantern Asset Management purchased the land from Ryan Voorhees. The property is located just off U.S. Highway 377 and Kelly Ranch Road in Aledo.

Along with the golf course, practice facilities, a lighted 10-hole par-3 course and clubhouse, there will be about 600 homes and other amenities, such as a family entertainment area, a spa and wellness area and a podcast studio. Those are similar to offerings available at the Blackjack National.

There will also be a working dude ranch with horses, longhorns, donkeys and other animals, Mitchell said.

“We want people to be able to have a lot of experiences in the area, golfing, ranching and at the end of the day come home to the family, to come together,” he said.

Forbes, 03 October 2024

Tiger Woods is building a second golf course in Texas, with the Bluejack brand expanding to include a private, family-focused residential community near Fort Worth called Bluejack Ranch.

A 914-acre property that blends luxury and recreation, Bluejack Ranch is located just under four hours northwest of Bluejack National outside Houston, the site of the first Woods-designed course in the U.S. The new course is expected to open in early 2026, with the ranch club projecting an opening in Q1 of 2025.

In a letter to Bluejack members, Woods said he finds it hard to believe it’s been just over a decade since that course opened, and that he’s excited to again team with Bluejack founders Andy and Kristin Mitchell for an “encore opportunity” at a new club that will include a diverse assortment of home lots. The Mitchells attended Texas Christian University, which is located in Fort Worth, and have teamed with former PGA Tour golfer J.J. Henry (also a TCU alum) as developers of the new project.

“We’re bringing that same Bluejack spirit and passion to Fort Worth – a city celebrated not only as Cowtown but also as a golf town,” said Woods. “With legends like Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson, the love for the game here is genuine.

“Bluejack National’s success has paved the way for this next chapter at Bluejack Ranch,” he added. “Our shared vision of creating a space where families can enjoy the game and have fun inspires us all once again at The Ranch. It’s extremely motivating for me to contribute to the golfing legacy of Fort Worth, and I’m excited to see what we’ll build together.”
