Millsap ISD Superintendent Charged, Two Teachers Arrested Over Abuse Of Special Education Students

Mike Olcott, the House Representative for Texas House District 60, for Parker, Palo Pinto, and Stephens Counties, which includes Willow Park, released the following email:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 20, 2025

(Austin, TX) – UPDATE, 6:50PM – Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier informed me this evening that Millsap ISD's [3] superintendent has been charged with Failure to Report and Intent to Conceal in regards to the abuse of the special education students.

(Austin, TX) – Today, two faculty members at Millsap ISD were arrested on charges related to the physical and verbal abuse of three special education students.

I am appalled by the actions of these teachers at Millsap ISD that I observed in the video reported on by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth [1]. I am especially disturbed that these individuals who were hired specifically to care for students in the special education program would subject such vulnerable children to this type of abuse.

The Millsap ISD Board of Trustees is meeting tomorrow [2] to discuss a separation with the current superintendent. I expect the Board to fully consider what took place and discover if any other faculty members participated in or attempted to cover up the abuse that took place.

Moreover, if the teachers are convicted of abusing these children, they should never be permitted to teach in a school again.

I appreciate the efforts of Sheriff Authier and the Parker County Sheriff's office who have been actively investigating this incident. My office will continue to monitor the situation at Millsap ISD in the coming weeks.

The Brief

Millsap ISD Superintendent Mari "Edie" Martin, Special Education Teacher Jennifer Dale and Paraprofessional Paxton Bean have all been arrested on charges connected to a viral video showing an autistic 10-year-old being abused.

Video FOX 4 first broadcasted last week shows a Millsap Elementary School educator slapping towards 10-year-old Alex Cornelius. Moments later, another educator yelled at him before repeatedly hitting him with a toy and then throwing the toy at him.

The arrest warrant affidavit details a pattern of abuse and at least two more alleged victims.

Dale is charged with official oppression, Bean is charged with official oppression and injury to a child and Martin is charged with failure to report or intent to conceal.
