The nine-member Texas Court of Criminal Appeals is the state’s highest appellate court for all decisions on Texas criminal matters.,, Texas is one of two states in the U.S. with a bifurcated supreme court system, meaning there are two top courts in Texas. While the Texas Supreme Court handles civil litigation, the nine judges of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals rule on criminal cases


The nine-member Texas Supreme Court has the power to make sweeping decisions that interpret the meaning of the state’s constitution, impacting the lives of Texans across the state. Three seats are on the ballot this year

1) Inflation

2) Jobs/Economy

3) Crime

4) Immigration

5) Abortion


More than 90 percent of voters are concerned about the U.S. economy and inflation, according to the latest POLITICO/Morning Consult poll... Seventy percent of voters believe the country is on the wrong track, the 38th consecutive week that a majority of people have responded that way. And the generic ballot saw Republicans increase their support to 44 percent while Democrats slipped by 1 percent to 45 percent, making the parties essentially even; the poll had a margin of error of 2 percentage points.

What is different since the last major election? The campaign comes about a year after Gov. Greg Abbott signed a controversial elections bill into law. Senate Bill 1 includes a ban on 24-hour polling places, increased ID requirements, restrictions on drive-thru voting and limits voting by mail.
