This week, my boots were back on the ground in the nation’s capital again Monday morning to begin yet another productive week working for Texans in D. C.
Last Friday, I reintroduced a bipartisan bill to rename the street outside of the Cuban embassy in Washington, D. C. as “Oswaldo Payá Way” after the Cuban dissident leader who was assassinated by the Castro regime. Read the release here.
Given the Chinese Communist Party’s attempts to spy on the United States, I introduced a bill to counter Chinese espionage at American universities. The SHEET Act would advance U. S. security by countering the CCP’s espionage efforts targeting American higher education. Read that release here.
I also reintroduced the Protecting America from Spies Act and the Protecting Military Installations and Ranges Act at the end of last week. These bills would defend U. S. national security against espionage and block China as well as other adversaries from purchasing land near U.S. military installations, respectively.
Last week, I sat down with CBS’s Jack Fink in Dallas to discuss the Biden Border Crisis. The Biden administration caused the crisis at the southern border, and they refuse to fix it. The Biden administration has become the last mile of a pernicious human trafficking network.
Wednesday, Chairwoman Cantwell and I presided over a Commerce Committee hearing on the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) NOTAM system failure and its impacts on a resilient national airspace. I have been a vocal critic of U. S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s failure to deliver any meaningful reforms to the FAA. We need upgrades to the FAA and its air traffic organization in light of the unprecedented NOTAM failure that stranded thousands of travelers.
Thursday, I presided over a Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Technology hearing on bringing transparency to Pharmacy Benefit Managers.
I am now back in Texas for the recess week where I will visit American Airlines headquarters in my role as the Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
Rest assured, I will always fight to protect our liberties and keep our country free. God bless you all.
Keep Texas Strong,
Ted Cruz
