As Willow Park Baptist Church celebrates its 30th Anniversary in May 2024, [1] they will also be saying goodbye to their old sanctuary on Ranch House Road and E. Bankhead Hwy.
During the 16 April 2024 P&Z Meeting and the 23 April 2024 Council meeting, the City will consider rezoning the property from residential to commercial [3] to accommodate the new leasers The Journey Church and The Premier Academy of Fine Arts of North Texas. Currently the old, 9 acre WPBP campus in listed by Jim Martin's Rail Head Realty for $12.5M [4]
In early 2023, the Willow Park Baptist Church moved its sanctuary from their south Ranch House Road location to a new larger sanctuary and campus on Crowne Pointe Blvd. north of I20. [2]
And before that, "The church, at the corner of Ranch House Road and Bankhead, started as a vision in the eye of J.D. Towles, who had been preaching in Artesia, New Mexico for 18 years. Planning to retire, Towles was led to Willow Park, where he began the church in a storefront with 12 people in 1994." [2]
