3. Consideration/Action: to award a construction contract to Humphrey & Morton Construction Company, Inc. for the 2022 Drainage Improvements, Phase I project. #DrainageManagement #StormDrainage

  • Background: On November 30, 2022, a bid opening was conducted at City Hall for the 2022 Drainage Improvements, Phase I project. A total of six (6) bids were received for three (3) separate bid schedules. Bid Schedule A consists of improvements to the Pleasant Ridge culvert crossing near El Chico, Bid Schedule B consists of regrading of an earthen channel from Sam Bass Road to Squaw Creek Road, and Bid Schedule C consists of improvements in the channel along the eastern city limits flowing to El Chico. / Staff recommends award of the contract to the lowest responsive bidder, Humphrey & Morton Construction Company, Inc. for the combination of all base bid schedules.

    • The total contract will include the following amounts:

    • $158,581.00 (Bid Schedule A), improvements to the Pleasant Ridge culvert crossing near El Chico

    • $52,874.00 (Bid Schedule B), regrading of an earthen channel from Sam Bass Road to Squaw Creek Road

    • $519,580.00 (Bid Schedule C) improvements in the channel along the eastern city limits flowing to El Chico

    • for a total project cost of $731,035.00.

  • Exhibits: 2022 Drainage Improvements, Phase I Bid Award Recommendation Letter / Bid Tabulation

  • WPC Notes: Implementation of Phase 1 will start the first of 2023 to be completed by summer. Bidding for Phase 2 of the drainage improvement plan, which is budgeted for $844K, will also start the beginning of 2023. Note, the largest portions of the drainage improvement project and funds will be included with the city's Street Improvement Project (WPC Blog > Street Improvement Projects).

  • Mayor Comments: great city Christmas party [for city employees and elected officials and families] / great 2022 and excited about 2023

  • City Administrator Comments:

    • Thanks for 5% increase which was surprise to him.

    • Auditors on site this week so audit report in February.

    • Executed a lease for new City Hall at 120 El Chico trail Suite A; this is the new address for city hall effective 01 January but may be able to get into the building sooner. #CityHall

  • Council Comments:

    • Council Young ask for January agenda calling for the May election.

    • Other council members wished, everyone Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
