A. Discussion to update on Gabby Shultz’s project (See 08 November 2021 Parks Meeting)

Gabby Shultz, Aledo High School student, FFA President, and Ford Scholar Recipient updated the Board on her Ford Scholar project status. Ms. Shultz is looking to fundraise for picnic tables and improvements to the Demonstra2on Garden at Cross Timbers Park. Her project must be completed by June 2022.


B. Discussion and Action on Phase II improvements at Cross Timbers Park

Background: It had been agreed by the Parks Board at the meeting on November 8, 2021 that the next "phase" of improvements for Cross Timbers Park is to include shade covers for the stone benches around the playground, picnic tables and benches, trash receptacles, an entry sign for the park, and a pedestrian crossing sign.

The Parks Board was presented with Staff’s equipment selectons of picnic tables, benches, and playground seatng canopies for Cross Timbers Park and respectve costs. Lea Young spoke about the colors and items. Ever Gomez suggested that we may be able to get community partnerships to help with the cost of improvements and for park help. Lea Young also explained that the new and upcoming Parkland Dedica2on Fee discussed at the previous Parks Board mee2ng would also help to fund park improvements.


C. Discussion to update on Cross Timbers Park restrooms

Staff member Toni Fisher showed the Board a sign she planned to have made for the restroom which stated the park’s restroom hours and emergency numbers, to which the Board replied favorably.


D. Discussion to update on Trails System proposals

Staff and Lea Young discussed the ini2al mee2ng with CERA at the Squaw Creek Golf Course, and the poten2al for future trails. This item will updated as progress is made.


E. Discussion of Date and Time for next Parks Board Meeting
