      • As a homeowner, you may install and maintain your own irrigation system, but it’s still important to have a suitable backflow prevention assembly (BPA) in place and to be sure that it works properly. Here are a few ways you can do just that:

      • Hire a licensed irrigator. You can find one from our online licensing database.

      • If you install your own system, have a licensed BPA tester confirm that the BPA is installed and operating properly. Licensed BPA testers are also listed in our online licensing database.

      • TCEQ requires you to have a licensed BPA tester check the BPA when it is installed on your irrigation system. Your water provider may have adopted additional codes or regulations which require an annual test of the BPA on your irrigation system.

RE: Backflow Assembly Test Due at [address]

Dear Water Customer,

The State of Texas requires that backflow prevention assemblies be installed on all hazardous cross-connections in an effort to keep our water supply safe. These assemblies must be tested and certified every year to ensure that they are working properly. The City of Willow Park - PWSID #1840027 has partnered with BSI Online to assist in administering the backflow program in your community. Our records show the following backflow assembly(s) at your property, which are due to be tested by [date].

[backflow assembly data for your irrigation system]

You are responsible for hiring a licensed backflow tester to perform the annual test and certification of the backflow assembly(s) listed above (BSI does not test backflow assemblies). Please provide the CCN listed in the top right corner of this letter to your backflow tester, as they will need this number to properly file your backflow test reports via BSI Online.

You may also use this CCN at www.bsionline.com to verify when your backflow test has been filed, locate a list of testers in your area, or to simply learn more about backflow [BSI FAQ page]. Please contact BSI via e-mail (support@backflow.com) or phone (888-966-6050) if you have any questions. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping to protect our water resources.

Sincerely,

Christine Walsh, Vice President

BSI / Agent for the-City of Willow Park - PWSID #1840027

Backflow prevention testing information

Every year, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires all homeowners who have irrigation systems to complete backflow prevention assembly testing. This testing ensures that water is flowing the proper direction when it is supposed to be leaving the irrigation system.

This is a state-mandated test (see TCEQ Texas Administrative Code Chapter 344 – Landscape Irrigation) and the City of Willow Park has hired BSI to help ensure the tests are completed and to help us keep records of the tests. You may have received a letter from BSI informing you of this required test. We maintain a list of certified registered plumbers who can complete this test or you may choose your own, provided they are licensed to perform backflow testing.

If you have any further questions, you can email water@willowpark.org or call 817-441-7708.
